It is with great pleasure that I welcome you back after hopefully a restful Spring Break. The New York State Math exam will be administered on May 2-4. Once again, the test will be untimed. In order to help your child succeed please continue to review their homework and class assignments. It is vital students read every night for at least 30 minutes.
The third marking period will end on tomorrow. Please make sure your child has completed and submitted all of his/her assignments in each content area. As the spring weather approaches we notice a correlation on student attendance and academic performance. We would like to encourage all families to continue working with our scholars at home to ensure they stay motivated and focused on school.
Our after-school and Saturday Academy will conclude next week. We will offer tutoring for all students that are failing or at risk of failing for the year. Please monitor your child’s grades through Skedula, on a weekly basis. In addition, I strongly suggest that you call or schedule an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss progress. Students must receive a passing grade in all of their classes to be considered for promotion.
Camp Becket will be held Saturday, April 22nd for our 6th grade students with the purpose to bring students together and teach them group dynamics and communication skills. We will participate in the Pi5NY Math Competition this year, which will take place April 29th, 2017. We will have tryouts this Friday, April 21st at 2:30pm. We will select four teams per grade. Students are encouraged to attend tryouts if they would like to participate.
